Do female teenagers get thumb pricks every check up?

So later today I'm going to the doctor's for my yearly check up and i forgot if I have to get a yearly thumb prick or not. Also if you know, can you tell me how painful it is (since it might have changed in a year) and if there is anything I can do to ease the pain or like cope with it without freaking out way too much. I hate shots and anything like that which includes this but I feel like this is worse. Help!!!!!
